Relocation of a district heating pipeline by pipe jacking DA 3200, Esslingen – Dec. 2020 December 2020
From lofty heights to under water
In the course of a Germany-wide maintenance campaign, the Hans Martin Schleyer Bridge in Esslingen, built in 1964, is being replaced. Since the structure partly serves as a pipeline bridge for district heating, an alternative route had to be created before the demolition planned for 2021. EnBW decided in favour of a culvert under the Neckar to ensure a permanently safe connection between the banks and commissioned SONNTAG Baugesellschaft with this.
